I'll wash your mouth out with soap.
I don't know about you but when I was little my mom would warn me with the "I'll wash your mouth out with soap" scare tactic. And it worked... most of the time... I do remember a few different times I tasted soap. So it would seem appropriate that I should use the same scare tactic with my own children... right?
Well, Addison seems to be putting everything in her mouth lately... and I mean EVERYTHING. I tell her "take that out... you are getting germs everywhere." Well for some reason today I walk into the room and she has her socks in her mouth and what comes out of my mouth. "The next time you have something in your mouth that is not food, "I'll wash your mouth out with soap." Did I mean it... No, I hated my mouth being washed out with soap... although I might have to later down the road but not for this situation-he he. Then I go about my business. The next thing I know Addison is in the bathroom, I thought to myself is she doing it to herself??? Sure enough, my very obedient ( i use that word loosely) is standing in the bathroom pumping soap into her hand. I asked her what she was going to do with it and she says "my mouth" and I try to explain... you don't put soap in you mouth it is VERY yucky. I made sure that she washed her hands and she went on her merry way. What a funny girl, it seems to me that she chooses to listen and obey at the most interesting times. I did however find the situation so funny that I had to call Trent at work to share.
Don't you wish your kids would wash out their own mouth out with soap if needed???

That is so funny!
That is one of the funniest things I have ever hear, I was laughing so hard I was crying while reading this. What a sweet little girl. It is good that she listens so well! LOL
Well if you see bubbles coming out of her mouth you'll know why:)
Way to pass on those family threats. My mom threatened me with it (and I had the pleasure of tasting it) and a few of my children have to. Your mother must have learned it from her mother, right! But I have never heard of a sweet little girl be willing to even attempt to try it on her own. Cute. Children never cease to amaze.
could you say this is one of the 'family traditions'? that get passed on... those threats, or sayings!
